At the recent American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) 2011 annual meeting in Orlando, Dr. Suheil Muasher, a specialist for infertility in Washington, DC, received the ASRM Service and the ASRM Star awards. Dr. Muasher focuses on diagnosis and treatment of infertility and reproductive medicine at his practice, offering procedures such as minimal stimulation IVF and intrauterine insemination. The ASRM also awarded the Suheil J. Muasher Distinguished Service Award during the convention for dedication and service to the organization.
Dr. Suheil Muasher, an infertility and IVF specialist in Northern Virginia and Washington, DC, was awarded two distinctions at the 2011 American Society for Reproductive Medicine annual meeting that took place recently in Orlando, FL. He received the ASRM Service Award, given to ASRM members who have met a 10-year milestone for serving on ASRM boards and/or committees, and the ASRM Star Award, a peer-nominated award to ASRM members who have contributed 10 or more consecutive years of presentations at the annual meeting.
At his center for IVF in Virginia, Dr. Muasher offers services in minimal stimulation IVF, IVF with donor egg, intracytoplasmic sperm injection, assisted hatching, cryopreservation of sperm and embryos, and preimplantation genetic diagnosis. As an active member of the ASRM for over 28 years, Dr. Muasher was also one of the originators of the Minimal Stimulation IVF Protocol and an integral contributor to research in embryonic cryopreservation and recognition of Day 3 hormonal evaluations during his time at the Jones Institute.
Dr. Muasher’s dedication to and support of the society also helped him for the endowment of a service award named in his honor. The ASRM awarded the 2011 Suheil J. Muasher Distinguished Service Award to world renowned reproductive endocrinologist Alan H. DeCherney, MD at the annual meeting. Dr Muasher says he is honored that the first recipient of this award is Dr. DeCherney and will continue striving for the highest quality patient care in reproductive medicine.

Dr. Suheil Muasher completed his medical degree at the American University of Beirut and his Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency Program at the Greater Baltimore Medical Center and Johns Hopkins Hospital. He received additional training at the Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility Fellowship Training Program at the Jones Institute for Reproductive Medicine. He is a board-certified Infertility Specialist in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility and Obstetrics and Gynecology, an Associate Professor of GYN/OB at Johns Hopkins University Medical School, and an active member of several professional societies including the American Society of Reproductive Medicine. He has consistently been selected as one of “The Best Doctors in America” for the past 20 years. He is passionate about delivering high quality reproductive care in a personalized setting.

Suheil Muasher, MD, our Infertility and IVF specialist in Virginia, was recently invited to speak at the Twenty-Eighth Annual Howard W. Jones, JR., M.D. & Georgeanna Seegar Jones, M.D. Lectureship, a major event held at the Division of Reproductive Endocrinology at Johns Hopkins’ Department of Gynecology & Obstetrics. Dr. Muasher’s lecture was titled: “Mild/Minimal Stimulation for IVF: An old idea that needs to be revisited.”
Dr. Muasher’s invitation to lecture is a very prestigious honor for him, and he follows in the footsteps of other major contributors to the world of science and medicine. In fact,one of the previous lecturers, Dr. Robert Edwards, was a Nobel Prize Winner. The lectureship is named after two of the most respected and prolific reproductive specialists in the U.S. Dr. Georgeanna Jones was the first full-time gynecologic endocrinologist at a medical school in America, and she established the nation’s first Division of Reproductive Endocrinology, located at The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Her husband, Dr. Howard W. Jones, Jr., is known as one of the leading pelvic surgeons of his time, and had a global reputation as an expert in reconstructive and reparative surgery of the female genital tract.
In addition to running the Muasher Center for Fertility and IVF here in the Virginia, Maryland, and Washington, D.C. area, Dr. Muasher is an Associate Professor of Gynecology & Obstetrics at Johns Hopkins, Clinical Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at George Washington University, and Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Virginia Commonwealth University.
